The clients I work with come to therapy feeling exhausted by patterns they understand intellectually but can’t seem to change. You may have spent years in therapy developing insight, recognizing where your beliefs and behaviours come from, yet still find yourself overwhelmed by the same emotions, physical sensations, and relationship dynamics. You know why you react the way you do, but your body seems to tell a different story.
You might describe yourself as thoughtful, self-aware, and highly reflective. You’re successful in your career, capable, and someone others rely on. But beneath the surface, you struggle to access your own emotions, or when they do emerge, they feel overwhelming. You may find yourself constantly monitoring how others see you, shaping yourself to meet their expectations, and seeking reassurance that you’re enough. You may feel like you’ve lost touch with who you really are.
Together, we’ll move beyond insight alone and begin listening to what your body has been trying to communicate. Through thoughtful interventions based in somatic therapy and parts work, we’ll gently explore the ways your nervous system learned to keep you safe. Rather than trying to get rid of your protective patterns, we’ll approach them with curiosity and compassion, understanding how they developed and whether they still serve you today.
As you become more connected to your body, you’ll learn to recognize and regulate overwhelming sensations, build a greater sense of safety within yourself, and develop the capacity to respond rather than react. Over time, you’ll feel less driven by old survival strategies and more able to make choices that reflect your authentic needs, values, and desires.
